Signs Of Skin Cancer

In case you are unfamiliar with skin cancer, it is a form of cancer which manifests itself with different signs and symptoms. Among the signs of skin cancer, the most common is a change within the skin, such as sores or growths that just won't heal. In a situation where you find lumps that are shiny, smooth, or waxy looking, or reddish brown or red in color, you should visit the doctor in order to find out whether or not you are suffering from signs of skin cancer immediately.

Red spots that are scaly or rough are some of the other signs of skin cancer that you should show to your doctor whenever you are in doubt. Since skin cancer may start near or from a mole, you should make it a point for your physician to check all of your unusual moles that appear to be larger than others, have irregular edges, or have different colors. The reason for this is because all of these are signs of skin cancer.

Signs of skin cancer are listed as being the "ABCD" melanoma warning signs:

A. Asymmetry refers to one half of a mole that doesn't match the appearance of the other half.

B. Border irregularity is where all of the moles edges are notched, blurred, or ragged.

C. Color is where you find some irregular pigmentation within the moles upon your body. There could be moles within shades of black, brown, or tan with a splotchy or mottled appearance.

D. Diameter is where you find the width of your moles to be greater than six millimeters, or either the size of the eraser on a pencil. Within the mole, abnormal growth needs to be reported and investigated.

Among the other signs of skin cancer, you will find light brown or black, mottled and flat blemishes that have irregular edges. Each of these moles may turn blue, red, or white and they may also crust or bleed on its surface. The earliest signs of skin cancer, specifically for the skin cancer known as squamous cell carcinoma, you will find skin growths which are referred to as actinic keratosis. Skin growths are scaly small spots that develop upon areas of the body that have been exposed to the sun. Usually, they begin as flat small red spots that grow into scaly, large, and thick spots like warts and normally form upon the back of the hands or on the face.

Among the other signs of skin cancer you will find changes within the shape or color of existing moles or either moles that begin to ooze or bleed and moles that have grown into an unusual large size. These are the signs of skin cancer, if you notice any of these signs; you should contact your physician immediately.
