Skin Cancer Symptoms

Typically, skin cancer is more likely to strike individuals more than any other type of cancer. Even though all skin types are able to develop skin cancer, skin cancer is predominately found more within individuals with fair skin. The main cause of skin cancer is spending too much time in the sun because of ultraviolet radiation exposure. Two of the absolute best ways to protect yourself from developing skin cancer is to avoid overexposure to the sun and to identify the skin cancer symptoms early on.

There are three major causes of skin cancer; they are heredity, the environment, and ultraviolet damage to your skin. Mostly, this occurs within teenagers and children. There have been studies conducted that have shown that adults receive almost half of their ultraviolet exposure for their lifetime at the time that they are twenty years of age. Whether you realize it or not, your skin is the biggest organ within your body. Your skin protects all of your internal organs from injury, and it also acts as a barrier between bacteria and all of those organs.

Your skin also regulates your body temperature and it communicates with the brain in order to allow touch, temperature, and pain sensations. You may see why it is so important for you to make sure that your skin is healthy and completely free from any skin cancer symptoms. Skin cancers have been classified as being melanoma or non-melanoma.

Non-melanoma is going to develop on all of those areas upon the body that are exposed to the sun the most. Early skin cancer symptoms will appear on the face, body, neck, ears, backs of your hands, and lips. Each of these signs rarely ever spread to any other area of the body. However, you should know that the skin cancer symptoms may be one extreme to the next because the cancer is either going to be growing slowly or growing at a fairly rapid rate.

A common form of skin cancer known as melanoma starts within the cells that are responsible for producing coloring and skin pigment referred to as melanin. Melanin is known to protect your skin's deepest layers from all of the sun's harmful radiation. Melanoma is also known to account for a very small percentage of cases, but it is a lot more life-threatening and dangerous than the non-melanoma. Your chances of surviving melanoma skin cancer are going to be much better if you are able to catch it within its earliest stages.

The skin cancer symptoms include multiple moles, a family history of past skin cancer, exposure to radium, coal tar, creosote, pitch, radium, and arsenic compounds, as well as severe cases of sunburn as a young child.
